Your Personalized Shoe Style

by Tili Tompson, DRES marketing assistant

As a woman with size 11 feet, one foot wider than the other, and a selectively bold personal style, finding shoes that fit me and my style is the most stressful part of creating outfits. Simple black stilettos and ballet flats might never go out of style, but having the opportunity to personalize my shoes is a confidence booster that can't be beat.

Shoes of Prey is an Australian brand established in 2009 that allows shoppers to totally customize their flats, heels, wedges, oxfords, sandals, and boots through an easy to use 3D Designer program. Color, cut, size, width, and decoration options are easy to select and combine.
Whether your DRES fashion style is Classic, Chic, Romantic, Ethnic, or Dramatic, we have discovered one brand that serves all DRES style types: Shoes of Prey.

alt

Classic
To design a shoe that fits your gracious, refined and sophisticated look, we recommend you take advantage of choosing a moderate heel height that you are comfortable in. This means no more teetering around in too-tall shoes, or scuffing your heels in flats!

alt
Chic
For a shoe that fits your modern, self-assured and sharp aesthetic, try playing with their oxfords in your personal best colors. Oxfords are a great look for the chic lady looking to step out in something new.

alt
Romantic
The woman who is always friendly, casual, and whimsical must try out the sandal options available. You can personalize heels with a floral or lace to add just the right touch of lightness to your step.

alt
Ethnic
To design a shoe that fits your diverse, authentic and cultural style, we recommend the bootie in a neutral colored snakeskin or fishskin. Of course, that leaves the sole and heel to feature your favorite color.

alt
Dramatic
Looking for a shoe that fits your energetic, exciting and strong style, but is also accepted at work? You'll be amazed at how you can jazz up a ballet flat with bold colors or low heel silhouette to wear out with the girls after a hard day at the office.

DRES Stylists can help you select a shoe or outfit that fits your personal style.

Love Your Imperfections

In this episode we are answering a viewer's question, “How can I learn to love my imperfections?” As women dedicated to helping you embrace your best self, we are certainly well acquainted with the struggle of embracing what doesn't match expectations.

Lisa and I believe that there are 2 things you have to do to conquer this struggle.

1) Focus on the positive. If the only thing you see is that muffin top, you're going to continue to see it as a big flaw even after it's whittled down. Focus on the positives instead: What are your best physical assets? What does your best friend compliment whenever she sees you? What does your husband have a hard time keeping his hands off? But most importantly, what part of your body makes you feel proud? Your strong legs, or powerful shoulders? A quirky, irresistible smile?

2) Change your expectations. You're dedicated to your goals, but they take time to achieve, whether you're trying to brush and floss as much as the dentist recommends, or getting back to a healthy weight. You aren't there yet, but you are on the path, and that means you are the best you can be today. Remember to aim for being the best you every day, and the goals you wish to accomplish will follow.

In Honor of Moms

We hope you had a happy Mother's Day!

This last week, we've been running a contest on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

The contest ended yesterday, and we are pleased to announce the winner, Alicia Coragiulo! She wins a DRES dress for her mother,

“My Mom is one of the most selfless people I know. She has always been there to help me, to guide me, to laugh with me and to cry with me, but most importantly she is always there to love me. It's hard to always find the right words to tell her how I feel for she has done so much for me. I sometimes took for granted her guidance and caring ways; sometimes the sacrifices made for me may have seemed to go unnoticed. But, with every new chapter in my life, her love and support are among my most cherished memories. I will never be able to thank her enough for forever for standing by me, for teaching me to be strong, loving, and so many things! My Mom is not only a wonderful Mother, she is truly one of my best friends and my role model.”

We've decided that the celebration shouldn't end with just Alicia, so in honor of all of our mothers, this week only, all DRES Dresses will be on sale for $65!

DRES Dresses are designed for your body, and come in four different color combinations. Find your body shape here, so you can order your DRES Dress before they're gone!

4 Steps to Improve Your Mindset

Living as your best self requires that you live life to the fullest, follow your passions, and achieve your dreams. Have you noticed the weekly affirmations we feature in the blog and newsletter each week? These short, direct statements are words you can use to improve your frame of mind, and live life to the fullest.

Weekly affirmations are designed to help you clarify your desires and build a great mindset. Always start the affirmations with “I am” so that they become a fact in your life and something that your actions will follow. The statements build up week by week as a part of who you are- taking up the space that might otherwise be a crowd of negative thoughts and experiences.

To make your personalized affirmations:

  1. Make a list of all of the things you wish were different in your life. Write out every little complaint you have, no matter how small.
  2. Flip each negative into its positive opposite.
  3. Rewrite these new positives using “I am” at the beginning.
  4. Read them to yourself daily.

Don't be afraid to read your affirmations out loud and gesture, no matter how ridiculous it sounds or feels. The more muscles you use to state them, the more muscles the brain will remember stating them! You can also keep the list in your pocket as a reminder and a pick-me-up throughout the day, as you build your dreams into a reality.

Shapewear for the Ruby

This is the third in a series of four videos on shapewear where we are featuring one of the four DRES body shapes. Last month Lisa Fischer shared with us the best shapewear for the Sapphire (pear) body shape. This month she is sharing tips on finding shapewear for the Ruby (inverted triangle) body shape.

The Ruby Body Shape
Fuller bust and shoulders that narrow down to more defined hips. The goal for this shape is to focus on minimize throughout the shoulders and bust area. While deemphasizing the shoulders and bust, we want to smooth and slim the hip area at the same time.

Features To Look For

  • Garments that feature a deep V or scoop front neckline.
  • Shapewear that offers a support bra for smoothness and support.
  • Coverage in the underarm area and high back that reduces any bulges.
